I would love to know if you have a favorite sunscreen for your face that you apply daily? I would like to start applying sunscreen before my makeup each morning, but I am afraid it might clog my pores and cause breakouts. I tend to have oily skin, so I try to avoid liquid foundations. Still, I know it's vital to protect my skin from sun damage. Do you have any favorite sunscreens that are delicate enough for the face?
I have pretty oily skin as well, but my moisturizer actually has SPF 15 in it. I've been using this Clinique moisturizer for years and LOVE it. It doesn't make me oily and it has anti-aging benefits. Make sure if you try it, you get the kind for "combination to oily" skin as they make one for dry skin as well.

I use Jergen's Natural Glow, they have one specifically for the face. It has SPF 20. I have sensitive skin but have had no issues with it at all -- and it's a bonus that it gives you a pretty glow!
ReplyDeleteI swear by Dermologica! By far my favorite face products (totally cleared up and softened my skin). They have a sunscreen you can mix in with your moisturizer- that's what I use and I love it:)
ReplyDeleteI use Clinique city block everyday which has an SPF25. I have oily skin too but this stuff is oil free so no pore clogging, plus it acts as a really good primer underneath make up! xx
ReplyDeleteI've tried this product too and it really is wonderful specially at the beach, it makes my skin look luminous with a little bit of coverage.
DeleteI do heavy research when it comes to any kind of makeup! In the past few months I've started using Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer for oily skin. I went to my local makeup shop and asked for a sample first (which I never do) and I was so impressed by the results that I splurged. $42 and it's worth it. SPF 20. Get a sample first if you haven't tried it already!
ReplyDeleteI have oily skin as well and I use bare minerals with 15spf in it and clean & clear for lotion.
ReplyDeleteI love Trisha McEvoy for everyday and Neutrogena for faces when I know I will be outside. They both go on smooth and dry matte.
ReplyDeleteI use Bobbi Brown lotion with SPF 15. It has a very light smell and is great for my sensitive skin.

Such a timely question, as I just made the same decision!
ReplyDeleteSo I went in search of a good moisturizer with sunscreen in it, and found Philosophy's When Hope is Not Enough with SPF 25. I LOVE IT. It's creamy and not greasy and it doesn't leave any kind of residue behind.
-however-
When I ran out of foundation, I went in search of a new kind since I wasn't happy with the last. I am currently swearing by my Garnier BB Cream (all the rage here, can't even keep it on the shelves) but for real coverage, I reverted back to an old fave - Bobbi Brown. The guy who helped me at the counter worked for Bobbi for years and gave me some awesome advice. He said that when you go to get a moisturizer, get something that is purely a moisturizer. If it's a jack-of-all trades product, the other products in the cream (like sunscreen or repairing agents) will take up space so that they are all competing for space in the same product. Therefore, you don't get any one concentrated quality. If you want sunscreen, but a sunscreen specifically for the face. If you want a moisturizer, just get a moisturizer without any other 'benefits' advertised in the jar.
I was paraphrasing there, but you get the point. And if you find some kind of great sunscreen that isnt greasy for your face, PUHLEASE share the secret :)
oops, meant "buy the sunscreen" not BUT.
ReplyDeleteRodan & Fields, made by the Proactiv dr. but for normal skin. It is awesome! It is 30 smells great. I live in Houston too so great for everyday. Need to find a rep to buy it.
ReplyDeleteI use a moisturizer that has SPF 15, from Estee Lauder, is called Day Wear I think. Not sure if my answer helps! I'm going to go through all the comments to see what others use ;)
ReplyDeleteUnless I'm going to be in the sun for a prolonged period, I only utilize the spf in my primer as well as the one in my light foundation/mineral powder. What a great question :)
ReplyDeleteBenefit, SPF 15. And it smells good.
ReplyDeleteTry a facial moisturizer with SPF.

I swear by Neutrogena Ultra Sheer which I put on after my makeup. It's affordable, long-lasting, and makes my skin feel great!
ReplyDeleteI use Jack Black Double Duty Face moisturizer SPF 20. Now, its for men and a little pricey, but hear me out... I tend to have oily skin too and this one is the best one I've ever used. Its also free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, etc.

I absolutely love Olay's Complete daily moisturizer for sensitive skin. It has SPF 15. My skin is ridiculously sensitive to everything, and this has never done me dirty. Love it.
ReplyDeleteKiehls sunscreen is the best. It is super expensive but absolutely the only thing that does not break out my face.
ReplyDeleteMy dermatologist suggested EltaMD-I struggle with breakouts and oily skin and it has been great. It is SPF 40 and is a pretty good price...around $25...and it lasts forever.
ReplyDeletePeter Thomas Roth has a mineral powder sunscreen! You can get it at Sephora and it comes in a retractable brush presentation that you can just pop out anywhere and swipe on your face. And since it's in a powder presentation it's perfect for oily or combination skin.
