I recently was hired by a Houston couple to help design their townhouse. Right now, we are focusing on the living room, kitchen nook, and master bedroom. They have a beautiful floor plan with wood flooring throughout, but the house needs to be warmed up a bit. Plus, they are expecting, so with a baby on the way we have to kick it in to high gear and get the house in order before the baby arrives! They love neutral colors and classic design. Here's what's in my inspiration file for them...

My natural design style is to stick with classic colors for the core furniture pieces, and liven up the space through unexpected hints of color, accessories, pillows, rugs, and lighting.
After sitting down with the couple to discuss their aesthetic and vision, we agreed upon a neutral color palette with lots of white, gold accents and a soft gray wall color. Here's a few preliminary ideas I've been working on for them:
I love Sherwin William's Comfort Gray for the walls. It's one of my "go-to" grays. On the west wall of the living room, there are windows which I envision draping with lined silk. Two classic tufted arm chairs juxtaposed with a playful Robert Abbey gourd lamp and leopard pillows creates a nice balance to the room:
Although I love finalizing plans, the inspiration-collecting phase can be quite enjoyable. I can't wait to see it all come together.
How's your new year going so far?

ReplyDeleteLove your plans and I love the lamp for the North Wall as in obsessed love. They are both pretty and the one for the west wall does add a touch of color so it is perfect but I think it is that hint of metal that just stole my heart! Cannot wait to see it when it is done. Now, I want to change my lamps!

ReplyDeleteLookin good Sam! Great chairs and neutrals. Really loving the Comfort Grey- might have to go get a sample of that and see how it does with the light in our house. Also have me thinking about Downpipe (saw you posted about that one previously- lots of buzz on that one right now!).
