TGIF!! I know I say that every Friday, but seriously... I am really looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow my mom and I are going to go to the Villa de Luxe Designer Showhouse here in Houston, and then to the outdoor Urban Market Antique Show. I'd say that's just about my dream day... and I'm happy to have my mom in town! I'm always on the look out for pieces for my clients, and this market is a great opportunity to find unique and interesting furnishings and accessories. Speaking of clients, I am happy to be helping a new couple with their dining room. They have gotten the dining room started, and just need a little help accessorizing it and adding the finishing touches. Here's how it looks now:
I love the contemporary chandelier they chose. Pairing it with a traditional farm table and button-tufted parsons chairs in a rose shade creates an interesting dynamic. My initial suggestions were to do new window treatments, possibly paint the walls a darker warm gray, and add a rug to anchor the space. The large windows take up almost the entire west and south walls, and I felt dramatic silk taffeta drapery would be lovely. Something along the lines of these...
I think the full look that double-paneled drapes create. It creates immediate drama.
I also wanted to add a piece of contemporary art to add a little color and keep the space fresh. Having a subtle touch of pink would pull the rose pink out of the parsons chairs. Finally, a dramatic wall color would give the space definition. Right now, the walls are a soft blue and all the neutrals are getting lost within it. I love Sherwin Williams' Black Fox:
I am picturing a more contemporary rug design to match the lighting, and I loved the Mo Moroccan feel of this Jaipur flat weave.
I can't wait to see the room evolve.
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Thank you to everyone who entered the Aestate giveaway. I'll be announcing the winner later today!
Wow, your suggestions are bang on, especially the drapes and touches of pink! I think the curtains should be hung a little bit higher as well, to give the windows a grander feeling. xo
ReplyDeleteI love all of these pictures! So pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI die for a touch of soft pink in a room of neutrals. This space is going to be great. Looking forward to seeing the result. As for the weekend just working :/ I do have a fun Fat Tuesday party next week though :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree, some billowing curtains would bring the "wow" factor up. Can't wait to see it come together :)
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI love their rustic dining table - and really like the side table and rug!
