Stair Runners That Make A Statement

Happy Tuesday lovelies!!  I hope you are having a fab week.  Today I wanted to discuss a trend I'm currently loving:  statement-making stair runners.  The love affair began when  I  came across this fabulous hexagon stair runner on Pinterest:

It made me stop and stare.  I often forget about the opportunities stair runners present to add in a pop of color or pattern to your space.  In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, stair runners can prevent slips and falls from slick wood stair treads.  They also help reduce noise by absorbing the sound of someone walking up or down the steps.

If I were to add a stair runner to my house, I'd want it to be an animal print:

Bold, colorful runners can add color to mostly neutral spaces and are also great for way-finding:

This pink stair runner has luxe brass rods separating the treads:

Which runner is your favorite??

In other news, Area Rugs featured an interview with me on their blog yesterday. I was flattered!

And, lastly, TOMORROW the One Room Challenge begins.  Have you heard of the ORC?  Myself along with about 20 other bloggers will be spending the next 6 weeks transforming a room, showing you updates weekly.  I have no idea what I've gotten myself in to, but I hope you'll take mercy on me.  It should get interesting... ;)

  3. I love the first picture, and yes, this trend is really fabulous. Who though of decorating stairs with something other than an oriental runner? Brilliant and love that chandelier in the Harper's Bazaar shot. Looking forward to supporting you in the ORC Sam!
