Hello loves! Happy Hump Day! I couldn't help but do another design board today.... but this time, I'm sharing a few desired updates for my OWN place! Sam and I have decided to spend the first 6 months-year of our marriage in my townhome. He currently lives in an apartment, and we're hoping shortly after we wed we find the perfect house here in Houston. My house has been a work in progress since moving in 2 years ago... and I'm not quite satisfied with it (are us designers ever satisfied with our own homes?!). so I felt now was the perfect time to give it a face lift! Here's a few shots of my living room as of now:
I recently updated my wingback with a Mimosa Lane pillow cover...
The main change I want to make is my sofa. I actually bought my current sofa at an estate sale, and would love to change it out with a prettier one! It's so "blah". The upholstery up close is very pretty, but it just isn't the right color for the space:
And now on to my master bed...
I recently updated my throw pillows to include this Jonathan Adler needlepoint:
Hilarious! I had to have it. Anyway... as you can see.... pink, pink, pink everywhere:
Not exactly "man friendly." Ever since spotting Crane & Canopy's scalloped coral bedding, I've been smitten. Plus, I feel like coral is a happy solution for my soon-to-be hubby when it comes to my pink obsession, and it goes well with turquoise + leopard. I'd also like to upgrade the bedside lamps to a classic Circa Lighting design.
Living Room Updates: Oly Studio Hanna Sofa/Bijou & Boheme Tiger Print Throw Pillows/Circa Lighting Quatrefoil Floor Lamp
Master Bedroom Updates: Sally King Benedict Original Artwork/ Circa Lighting Demijohn Table Lamp/Vintage Gold and Lucite Sofa Table/Crane & Canopy Coral Sheet Set/Greek Key Pillow
The Sally King Benedict painting above is my absolute FAVORITE. Unfortunately, it's sold. Nevertheless, I'd love to add one piece of fine art to the bedroom... and I'll keep looking til I find one as good as Sally's. Or, til I can afford to commission her. ;) My board is still quite feminine, but it's a step in the right direction........ right??

ReplyDeleteLove the updates! It's so hard to make things "man friendly" while satisfying your own desires for pink and glam! We compromised with coral as well :).

ReplyDeleteIt's going to be so lovely! Have you tried Etsy for artwork that looks similar to that amazing SKB? Hers kind of reminds me of this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/90187944/snow-day
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you guys Sam...and yes the one thing about getting married is the compromise on design styles (well not the ONE thing), but you know. My husband is so opinionated about decor. He's very anti whites and golds and brass, not a huge fan of Mid Century Modern. He likes dark, rich colors and basically his dream house is an old stone castle somewhere in Ireland, preferably covered in cobwebs. Haha. I'm not really joking. Anyway, my point is that I'm sure you'll find something perfect that he will like too - and if not he can deal! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the cheetah pillows! They add a great touch... and of course I love all the pink. Very girly, but there's nothing wrong with that!! :)

Love it! I love you chest where your TV is... where is it from?!
ReplyDeleteEEeee Loving the updates. I have been in my house for 4 years and it is nowhere near how I want it. WHen Matt and I first moved in, it was a serious pink explosion. I am finally finding a balance of masculine/feminine. Love your new pillow. I may need that. And I'll never get over your headboard. I pass out every time I see it. haah xoxo
ReplyDeleteyour home is so gorgeous! (no shock there). I love your mirrored TV console, and the pillow is so cute.
