Needing, Wanting, Loving: Corniced Shower Curtains

I loooove the look of a structured cornice over window drapery- I always have!  It creates a more finished look and can add interest to the space through it's shape or upholstery.  But lately, I have seen designers take cornices to the next level by utilizing them as shower curtain toppers!  The bathroom can also be a fun place to get a little more funky with the embellishments and design.  For instance, I love the pom pom tassels designer Bailey McCarthy used for this shower/bath:

And how fun is this cornice and curtain combo utilizing a Caitlin Wilson textile?  So glam and feminine!

A cream drapery accented with a tape trim border creates a tailored, chic look:

This design blogger actually created her shower curtain cornice herself!  Talk about an ambitious DIY. The bird fabric on the cornice is originally from a Target shower curtain, if you can believe that.  Click here to view her tutorial.

So what's your take on corniced shower curtains- love it or leave it?

  2. Wow, I haven't seen anyone point this out before and I absolutely love it. That last one with the Target (!) cornice is awesome.

  3. I think it is a great look. Adds a bit of class to an otherwise overlooked area! My sister in law has one in her guest bath and it always feels so classy.

  5. I totally recognized Bailey's! I absolutely love the look! But I wonder how practical it is, at least for us. In our house I would totally have to have removable, washable curtains! Two big dogs (who regularly need showers) and a toddler are nothing to mess with ;) Can't believe that Target one! One heck of a DIY! Thanks for sharing!

  6. That takes me back!! My mom had a corniced shower curtain made for my sister and I's bathroom when she had it re-done back in the day. It felt so fancy. I think it was floral fabric, and we had striped wallpaper with a floral border if I recall correctly! haha

  8. I love these too. They really do "make" a bath area and are especially great for a smaller bathroom. Think of the impact these would make in a guest bathroom. I'm ready to order some right now!

  12. I love it so much. Needs the double curtains though, like all of the examples you've chosen. It really adds a finished polish to a space that often gets overlooked.
