Have you ever seen a print or design you loved, and then noticed it started popping up everywhere? That's how I feel about Scalamandre's Le Tigre silk cut velvet fabric. I originally spotted the deliciousness on Shop 219's website in the form of a pillow designed by Bijou and Boheme's Christine Dovey. Le Tigre velvet on one side combined with blush pink velvet on the other? Hell yes. Then, I spotted the fabric on the cover of House Beautiful's May 2014 issue, again in pillow form:
{I believe the chair is covered in Lee Jofa's Tiger Velvet 23- very pretty, but not on the same stunner level as Scalamandre's Le Tigre, in my opinion}
Then, last week, I bought a copy of Markham Roberts new coffee table book, Decorating The Way I See It. And guess what fabric graces the cover?! Le Tigre!
The fabric is very rich and luxurious (and costs a pretty penny- about $1500-$2000/yard!), so I think accenting a room with the pattern through a few throw pillows or an upholstered club chair is just the right amount:
Designer Jeffrey Bilhuber upholstered the cushions of this sofa in Le Tigre. The room is very full of color and pattern, and I think it was ingenious to do the cushions in a contrasting fabric- I've never seen that done before!
If you HAVE to have a bit of Scalamandre Le Tigre in your life but don't have a couple thousand bones to drop on pillow fabric, check out Williams-Sonoma's Scalamandre Tiger Pillow Cover:
It looks almost identical to Le Tigre and at $199 each, they're a serious steal. Let's just hope Scalamandre and Williams-Sonoma collaborated on this, and WS didn't just steal the pattern! :)
