Weekend Getaway to Austin

Hallelujah for Friday!!!  My roommate and I collectively decided we were long overdue for a weekend getaway, so we've packed our bags and plan to drive to Austin this afternoon.  A relative of hers has a loft right in the middle of the city, only steps away from our favorite Austin bar, Handlebar, and is kind enough to let us stay there frequently.  We plan to eat at Swift's Attic tonight and then hit the town.  Saturday, we're going to lay by the pool and maybe do some stand up paddle boarding.

My roommate's dad lives out in the hill country on a ranch, so in true Texas form we plan to horseback ride and hike on Sunday, and maybe visit Hamilton Pool.  I'm so glad the weather is supposed to be beautiful and we can get outside for a few days!

 When I get back from Austin, I am flying up to Oklahoma City for my grandma's funeral on Monday.  I've called her my "Nanny" all my life, and she passed away this past Wednesday at the age of 93.  Thankfully, she went very peacefully while in hospice and is no longer in pain.  I have so many fun memories of growing up and spending the weekend at her house, and getting to eat cinnamon toast and M&Ms in bed.  This is one of my favorite pictures of us together, circa 1988:
