Needing, Wanting, Loving: Swing Arm Sconces

I know I've posted about swing-arm sconces before, but I wanted to do a follow up post since there have been quite a few creative new releases on the style in the past 2 years.  The swing arm adds both an element of interest and a unique conversation piece while helping to save on space. They are perfect for adding valuable task lighting above a small reading nook, a kitchen sink, or at your bedside:

Most of the swing arm styles I'm drawn to lately are more modern in form.  They often feature a longer arm, a funky shade, and are a bit more modular.  However, there are also many new releases in the traditional style of swing arm that feature new finishes and unique touches, like the lucite and brass pair below.

Swing arm sconces- are you a fan?  Which style do you most gravitate towards?

  1. My swing-arm lamp broke this past year and I can't even tell you how long it took me to find a replacement. I combed through probably hundreds of not very cute ones on Lamps Plus, Shades of Light, etc. I was surprised to see how expensive they are! I went with a more classic type, from Robert Abbey, but these modern ones are very cool looking and statement-making. This is a definite necessity in NYC apartments...no way I could fit a nightstand or even floor lamp next to my bed. I hope companies continue coming out with nice ones, because like I said, there are a lot of bad ones out there!

  2. Completely agree- These are essential for NY. I am looking for a good set perfect for my apt now. Since I went with polished nickel rather than brass fixtures, I'm trying to find a cute option in nickel. And PS we still need to meet up one of these days. xo
