Highlights from the Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse 2016

Last Thursday evening I toured this year's Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse.  The buzz among the design industry is that this year's showhouse is one of the best that's been seen in many years, so I was eager to walk through and take a peek myself.   The Kips Bay Showhouse is one of THE  most important events of the design world and can really catapult a new designer's career. Each designer was given 6 weeks to transform their room, which began essentially as a white box.  Although every room was remarkable, I have included only a few of my favorite spaces in this post because I don't want to picture overload (and also I'm still in Jamaica and want to get back to lying by the pool)!

The hallways leading up the staircases were designed by Kati Curtis, and I love that she chose a classic de Gournay wallpaper to line the walls paired with lacquered cobalt woodwork:

Les Ensembliers Closet:

I loved meeting Les Ensembliers owner/principal designer Richard Ouellette at the showhouse and hearing him speak about his space.  Goyard accessories were used throughout the closet because to Richard, "Goyard is the epitome of timeless chic."

If you visit New York now through June 9th or live in the area, I highly encourage you to visit the showhouse located at 19 East 61st!  Tickets are $35 at the door and benefit the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.  And if you're in the market for a plush pad, the home is for sale for a cool 49.5 million.
