Two recent discoveries of mine have put me in a mood for
c-o-l-o-r and more color. The first is discovering
the portfolio of London-based interior designer Antonia Stewart. Her work is certainly not devoid of bright,
bold, hues used creatively. I particularly
love this powder bath she designed with the walls covered in Penguin classics:
Also note the toilet paper dispenser, disguised as a vintage camera. How cool is that? Another favorite space of mine that Antonia created was this master bath with a coral pink tub:
My other recent colorful discovery was Ashley Whittaker's latest project, which graces the pages of House Beautiful this month:
I've long been a fan of NYC designer Ashley Whittaker. This colorful Connecticut home she recently completed is no exception- especially since a chinoserie de Gournay paper sets the tone for the lively living room. In fact, Whittaker took inspiration from the floral wallcovering and used it as a jumping off point for the rest of the home. The color of the Prussian blue lacquered library in the background was chosen from the blues in the bird seen on the paper:
I'm also in love with the soft powder blue and cherry red color combination Ashley chose for the breakfast room- an unexpected pairing that feels cheery and fresh:
Soft color continues in to the home's master bedroom. Shades of celadon and lavender appear in the wallpaper as well as on the linens and accessories:
I'm also craving color as we get further in to winter. I can see the light at the end of the very long tunnel and am already starting to daydream about long spring weekends and summers out east. Here are a few more splashes of color that are inspiring me....
