Time to get to work! I recently have been helping a friend redesign his office space, and in the process have discovered so many cool designs from catalog sources- at surprisingly affordable prices. Want to be a working goddess, a la Audrey Hepburn in "Paris When it Sizzles"? Whether it be for a home office or not, I've broken down my favorite office pieces in to easy steps below- and all pieces featured here are under $1,000.
STEP 1: FIND A CHIC DESK
I love a desk with a little personality. New York life has made me a minimalist, so I prefer desks with only a pencil drawer and one column of drawers. If you fall in love with a desk that has no built-in storage, you can always buy a freestanding file cabinet to roll underneath or in a nearby niche/closet. Here are a few of my favorite desk styles

STEP 2: ADD A DESK CHAIR WITH A LITTLE FLAIR

Any artist's dream- the Inline Brass Filing Cabinet:
{One note: from reading the reviews of this cabinet, it doesn't appear the drawer depth works for traditional 36" x 24" sized floorplans. Sorry interior designers & architects!}
I'm digging this Locker Basket Unit with an army green frame, which can be made to order:
STEP 4: ADD DESK ACCESSORIES WITH A BIT OF PERSONALITY
I adore the whole line of Poppin desk accessories available at the Container Store, like this pink lacquer tray set:
And to close, another glamorous lady at her desk- Aerin Lauder at her desk in her Park Avenue apartment:
Happy Working!
XOXO,
Sam
